No matter how good something looks at times, you should pay close attention to your feelings. If it does not feel right, you should walk away from it. Often, we know what to do, but we choose to ignore it. It is the wrong way to go! We should always trust our gut instinct as it never lies to us.
So, why are so many people following the crowd? Are you always doing what others expect of you? Or is there some other purpose for you in life? Are you more concern with how others view you? Or do you pursue your own happiness and dreams?
You see, your gut instinct, your feelings, are much wiser than your head. Most people, when faced with a difficult decision, go to the logical part of their body, their brain, to have the answer. They believe that intelligence comes only from there but in fact, that is not the case.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." - Steve Jobs
Feelings - A Powerful Intelligence
Therefore, you must understand that your feelings, what you feel in your heart, and what is your subconscious is the most powerful intelligence in your body. You have to pay close attention to how and what you feel. This intuitive intelligence came into existence way before your brain.
However, even today, many people do not believe it or do not know about it. Yet, your subconscious started to live before your brain ever existed. Through the ages, it got different names like spirit, soul, subconscious, unconscious, superego, or gut feeling.
So, it is what created your body, your brain, and your heart. All of us without exception, even animals, form an emotional brain which is the subconscious mind long before we develop a rational one. And all of this is happening before anything physical occurs.
Feelings Impact You
You have to realize that your heart, your feelings, your gut, your subconscious or whatever you want to call it, dramatically, impact you. It affects how your brain works and not the other way around like many of us believe.
When you look at it, you cannot trust your physical brain one hundred percent of the time. It wants to keep you safe from all possible forms of pain; too safe even. But when you follow your heart, your feelings, your gut instinct, it wants to take you beyond your limitations. It wants to take you where you need to go to achieve your real purpose.
So, living inside your head is not only dangerous, it is somewhat rash and careless!
"When you are in your head, you are dead." - Tony Robbins
Listen More Often to Your Gut Instinct
It means that you are dead to the wonders you could accomplish in this world. And it makes you also blind to the beauty around you. Your head does not always give you the clarity of decision-making or real peace. As these things genuinely come from following your heart!
So, to get in touch with your feelings, you have to quiet down and listen carefully to what your gut instinct is telling you. That is the way to unlock all of your real potential, peace, and clarity. You have to follow your intuition, hear what your subconscious has to say and act upon it more often.
If you feel like something is right, then follow those feelings. Get out of your head, pay close attention and obey your intuition. You may be surprised by what you might discover along the way. Further down the road, the dots do connect.
Feelings vs. Logic
Sadly, following your intuition to act on a sudden inspiration has such negative beliefs and even a bad reputation in today's society. We are expected to think with our heads and be practical. And yes, I agree, there are times when it is needed.
But being practical or logical will never lead you to great success, true fulfillment or happiness. You can only get that when you live entirely as your authentic self. So pay close attention to your inner feelings, even if it does not suit those around you.
As a society, we are so conditioned to conform to the world's standards. It is what discourages us from following our intuition, our feelings, our gut and even our heart. We take the practical road because it is safe, less risky. But when we push away from the desire to act on our dreams, we fall off track, and often off the right one.
Pay Close Attention
Next, you begin to build up stress and tension in your spirit. Then you start to experience wrong states of emotions like feelings of worry, disappointment, and regrets. You miss your path, and for what; so that you can feel safe. Is this the life you want; a life full of predictability?
Of course, predictability and safety have their benefits. But what if the feelings in your heart are calling and you do not pay close attention to it? What if you choose to ignore it? Well, I believe that the consequences may by far outweigh the benefits and you will have regrets later on.
Therefore, follow your gut instinct, and it will lead you to your authentic self. Yet, most people are always so scared of what might happen. They always look at the negative side of things but never reflect on the positive.
Follow Your Feelings
Consider for a moment that you are being pressured by your family to do something you do not want to do. Are you going to follow the crowd and play it safe? Or will you dare to pursue other avenues? The right thing is to do what is good for you despite the difficulties that may follow.
"Your time is limited, so do not waste your time leaving somebody else's life. Do not be trapped by dogma which is living with the result of other people's thinking. You should not let the opinions of others drown out your own inner voice." - Steve Jobs
So, when you take the road unpaved or unapproved, you might feel scared, even rejected. But ask yourself the right questions and be honest with yourself. The most important is to have the courage to listen to your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Believe me when I tell you that everything else is secondary!
Do What You Love and Never Settle
You got to find what you love. And that is as true for work as it is for your relationships. Your job is going to fill a large part of your life. And the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is work you enjoy. If you have not found what you love yet, keep looking and do not settle.
As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. So stay foolish and hungry! If you do not follow your real reason for living, understand that pushing it away will never bring you happiness and peace. And the effects of short-term acceptance by friends, relatives, and society will not bring you the life you want.
Each of us is gifted with talents and skills which you can identify by looking at the things you are passionate about and inspired to do. By turning away from your passions and desires, you deny the divine access to powerful creation that exists inside you.
A Final Word about Feelings
We are all here for a reason, a purpose, and sometimes it does not, at least at first, looks so practical. You must feel it within your heart, through your feelings. Remember: you always have the answers inside of you.
Just listen and follow your gut instinct, your hunches. Do not confuse the voices in your head or around you with the guidance of your much wiser, more powerful intuition which is, in reality, your subconscious. So, pay close attention to your feelings and do not be led astray!
